lyrics
Used to scavenge like a wild animal
chew through trash to get slightly full.
Under roots i’d hide, or inside, if indulgent
if you find me, try to put aside judgements.
You’d like seeing me when you come home,
Bright eyed greetings with another hello,
Find my time might well be your own,
That’s fine, I just need a home.
And I’ll run out of my tricks you taught me,
wrong done behind your back ’til you spot me,
tail tucked between my legs when you’ve caught me,
fraught, distraught, and falling,
out of line with the pet you knew, when you
found me like I let you do, and you,
wound me tight, kept me stuck into
counting blessings I get used to.
I'll love you like a dog, just train me right.
Enough done wrong, even tame me bites,
but make me jump, and I'll say "how high?"
then I'll find how to fly to impress you.
I'll offer up my mind to you,
be aligned to you,
put my likes aside and lie for you,
do whatever short of die for you.
'til you're satisfied, that's all justified for you.
I can't read your mind, but I'll try for you.
I'll love you like a dog would do.
I'll let you put me to good use.
I'll love you like a dog would do.
I'll never get you, I don't expect to.
I love to beg you, I live to beg you.
I lick scars to remember wounds.
My own heart can run on fumes.
Darkened moods you've walked me into,
up to me to restart sweet hearted views.
I'm telling you what I can't stand.
Revel in devotion to a master's hands.
Letting moments that we "get it" make a dent.
I am an animal who'd rather have a known greater-than.
I'm but a beast, and this is my beast frame.
And at least it meets my needs when tamed,
this machine's got growing pains,
and a glowing flame, flowing through a brain,
so put a name on it, take my old one.
No sense of shame 'bout it, guess I don't own one.
You'll have to train all that in, come and change me,
chain me to your aims until it strains me,
Oh baby I'll love you like a dog, just train me right.
I'll love you like a dog would do.
I'll let you put me to good use.
I'll love you like a dog would do.
I'll love you like a dog would do.
I'll let you put me to good use.

Figurehead was to me, back in 2011 or possibly even earlier, one of those soundtracks of my life that will always remain in my memory at time that I found myself taking on new chapters in my life, facing the new unknown so to speak, discovering many aspects of myself as a young adult.
The electronic soundscapes and themes are magical and despite the energetic DnB type beats, provides a nice atmospheric feel to it, it feels dreamy and emotional. Johan "Wolfie" Meyer
