The clouds are sad today
was it something that I said?
Did I curse the sky too many times,
that it just cried again?

The wind is shifting eastward
and my mind is shifting west.
And the birds are leaving early
just to get out of their nests.

And my pride is gone today.
Was it something that I did?
My self control is in a blur
and I can't get over it.

The grass is painted dirty,
and my jeans are faded blue.
The sky is looking down on me
and it's looking up at you.

One more rainy day,
and this town is gonna flood.
It's the middle of December
and I think I've had enough.

I complain about the weather,
way too much.

But since I'm cursing things I can't control

The sun is gone today,
did I give it a reason to hide?
Did my insecure and hurtful words
drive it back into the night?

Maybe it'd come back someday
now that the cold is here.
But the ground is frozen solid
