I'm caught in a rut,
You could say I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.
But ain't that our way?
So we don't budge.
I've had enough
Of playing it tough when the tough got going too much,
Nothing would beat not knowing,
But I've been around and I know some.
I know that
There's things they'd rather not hear said loud,
So I whisper them to the noise
There's trouble they know they can't be proud of.
Oh the trouble they toy with and
I have said oh so much
In oh so many words
But I can't say any worse.
I got that silent polite type curse
that's that silent polite curse.
I got that silent polite type curse.
We all build our own safehavens
I judge 'em by the ones they've been in,
It ain't insane to look at the grain
see where the planks came from
Oh, you connive with the power-craven
Describe yourself as depraved,
Do you blame me for making a leap of lack of faith?
But I know that
There's things they'd rather not hear said loud,
So I whisper them to the noise
There's trouble they know they can't be proud of.
Oh the trouble they toy with and
I have said oh so much
In oh so many words
But I can't say any worse.
Keep saying it's hearsay when I've seen it with my own eyes.
Keep displaying it clearly, they'll know when their senses don't lie,
well worth a try
There's things you'd rather not hear said loud
So I whisper them to the noise
There's trouble they know they can't be proud of.
Oh I know what you toy with
And I have said oh so much
And oh so many words
And when they've heard
I won't say any worse.
You caught that silent polite curse.
You got a silent polite curse.

I'm re-reading homestuck again, like a sane person, and just went on a spiral wailing to myself (lovingly) about all the beautiful art that came out of this fandom in its prime, some of which is just as integral to my love of this ridiculous webcomic as the thing itself. Haven't bit the bullet to buy the OSTs on bandcamp yet but this album deserves it. I'm very normal about things I loved when I was 14 and continue to love, I promise big suit david byrne
